The redevelopment project, to rise at 1635 Lawrence Ave. W. at Black Creek Drive, will feature 1,470 new housing units, stated a release. The redevelopment will create a mixed-use community with both affordable and market-rate rental units to replace an old shopping plaza and parking lot.
The 3.5-acre site will also feature 36,000 square feet of retail space and 38,000 square feet of outdoor amenities, including community gardens with patio seating. Sweeney + Co Architects are the designers.
Delterra joins previously announced non-profit partners Habitat for Humanity, WoodGreen Community Services, the BlackNorth Initiative, Good Shepherd and Trillium Housing as developers at the project.
The affordable ownership properties and rental units will be partially supported through Spotlight Development’s charitable arm, Spotlight Affordable Ventures. The affordable units will include two-, three- and four-bedroom units.
Community benefits and amenities will include youth programming, a non-profit 24/7 daycare, food services, clothing and grooming services, employment and financial services and services for seniors.
“Our work to date on The Inclusive has been driven by collaborative partnerships and equity,” stated Sherry Larjani, president of Spotlight Development, in a statement.
“We are thrilled to announce Deltera Contracting as our builder for this project. Together, we will deliver Toronto’s most diverse and inclusive new community, ensuring that all our future residents will thrive in their new homes, merging affordability, quality and sustainability.”
